Folks, we had earlier shared about the deteriorating health of Krishna Chhetri who is on an indefinite hunger strike for Gorkhaland at Siliguri. Later in the evening, Krishna’s daughter Kristy contacted us with an appeal for all of us. A law student in Banglore, Kristy had to take leave from her studies when she came to know about her father’s decision to go on a hunger-strike.
Kristy is with her father, taking care of him as much as she can. She is, however, on her own, with little support from the people. No media or group or govt has cared to report about Krishna’s struggle for Gorkhaland or express their solidarity, even as his health continue to deteriorate.
We are leaving the message Kristy sent to us in the hope that our politicians and people, along with media houses, take some time out to visit Krishna, and to lend their support for the cause that is dear to all of us. If you are not able to personally check on Krishna, you could lend your support by talking and sharing about his struggle:
“The hunger strike that was started by Krishna Chhetri from 15 November 2016 has already completed its 8th day. When he actually had needed the health facility that time they (govt) did not look over now on 7 and 8 th day sub-division health commissioner and BDO Rajganj have visited the venue with medical facility which has been directly rejected by him.”
“We believe people have been busy with the change in currency, but we request those who want to see him and support Gorkhaland please visit him at Prakash nagar, Limbu busty, Siliguri. He is in his crucial stage as it is the 8 th day, of something happens it will be continued by his daughter who has left her education n have come for the fight of Gorkhaland. We won’t give up but please visit to support him.”
