Beyond News: The ripple effect that clutch leaders
By Vivek Ghatani
The majestic view of the mountains from Darjeeling to the manoeuvring Darjeeling Himalayan Railway or its infamous tea, Darjeeling has not just been proud of its beauty. The ‘Queen of Hills’ as it is baptized, has nevertheless been proud of the Gorkhas be it from the neighbouring Nepal or anywhere scattered in the world.
So, when Tenzing Norgay makes news in the first Pluto Mountain, Darjeeling has yet rejoiced because he belongs to the Gorkha or the Neplese community. The ripple effect of the admiration whatsoever has hit hard the leaders. Ofcourse the claims that Norgay was from Nepal on social media pulsating throughout the day has been another vigorous effect. Let that claim go on as we do not deny facts.
The interesting fact driven here is that how much these honours make leaders happy. The social networking site is best to show happiness. A speedy ‘thank you’ note with promises galloped out of happiness with promises ahead. Now, apart from resonance the Bagdogra Airport named as Tenzing Norgay Airport, the leaders are contemplating demanding the everester’s statue in the Parliament premises. One cannot forget, Late Durga Malla, the Gorkha freedom fighter statue erected in the Parliament was an effort of the Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh (BGP). The leaders ultimately out of sight then.
Ofcourse when the world looks upon the Great Everester as a universal icon, India’s unfaithful promises to honour him has disillusioned Gorkhas. When the PM himself promised honour for the first man along with Edmund Hillary to summit Everest, God knows what has obstructed him not to be ahead of NASA who named the first discovered mountain in Pluto with Norgay’s name.
The happiness expressed after NASA honour to Norgay is most exciting for us; as the leaders had shut up even to speak on renaming Bagdogra Airport. Understanding the power of the Ripple Effect is a great way to feel empowered. How can you be inconsequential in any way whatsoever, when a little movement or word from you could have such world stirring effects?
