डी के वाइबा, कालिमन्युज, कालेबुङ 31 मई। बिभिन्न चार सुत्रीय मागहरु लिएर गोजमुमो सभासदहरुले सुरु गरेको आमरण अनशनको छैटौ दिन आज गोजमुमो अध्यक्ष एंव जीटीए प्रमुख बिमल गुरुङ कालेबुङ आईपुगे। सभासदहरुले सुरु गरेको आमरण अनशनको छैटौ दिन तिनले यहाँको महकुमा कार्यलय परिसरमा बसेका अनशनकारी सभासदहरु क्रमैले गोपाल रुचाल, सुनिल प्रधान अनि सी पी पौड्याललाई भेट गरी स्वास्थ्यबारे जानकारी लिए।

Siliguri, May 31: The parliamentary standing committee on railways would on June 14 inspect the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a Unesco World Heritage network, a part of which is out of service since 2010 after landslides damaged the tracks.

This is the first time after 2010 that a parliamentary team would inspect the hill railway network.

Kalimpong, May 31: Trinamul Congress leader K.N. Subba returned to his Gorubathan home at 9 in the night under police protection, eight days after he had been prevented from proceeding to his native village.

“I am happy to be back at home after a gap of five years. I would like to thank the state administration and my party colleagues for making my return possible,” Subba said over the phone from Gorubathan.

Response to The Telegraph 26 May 2013 ‘Gorkha central force job confusion’ and The Statesman News Service 28 May 2013 ‘Outfit seeks relaxation of norms for recruitments of Gorkhas in paramilitary forces’.

The above two news published in both the national dailies require to be read with great interest by the Gorkhas of the GTA area which coincidently and as an important aspect is now identified with the seven Northeastern States for recruitment in some central forces. This follows another statement by Sitaram Kechury (CPM leader) and presently the Chairman of the Northeast Parliamentary Standing Committee in an earlier newspaper statement conveyed that his Committee had already recommended for inclusion of GTA in the Central Planning Commission. Reading the two aspects conjointly indicates GTA is geopolitically identified with the Northeastern States already though it is ‘seen’ to be positioned within West Bengal. This is interesting to note that already the GTA area is perceived to be different than rest of West Bengal and therefore now being identified with the Northeast for all purposes of future considerations geographically, socially, economically and politically.

SILIGURI: After Gorkhaland Territorial Administration(GTA) in Gorkha community dominated Darjeeling hills, now the demand for another autonomous administrative body to govern foothills is coming up fast. But tribals, the dominating demographic contributor there itself has gone divided into two halves on the issue.

KalimNews, May 30, 2013, Kalimpong:  Police escorted former DGHC Councillor and Vice president of Hill Trinmul Congress K.N.Subba to enter his house in Somabaray Bazar of Gorubathan. With the heavy police force guarding him Subba entered his house at about 8 pm in the night of 30 May.

Darjeeling, May 30: Subhawana Chhetri, 21, was killed when a wall collapsed during heavy rainfall at Himali Goan in Singamari near here around 2pm today. “She was trying to fill up a drum with rain water when a retention wall collapsed and she came under it,” said a relative.

Darjeeling, May 30: There has been incessant rain for last 2 days in Darjeeling, as a result, there has been reports of landslides from all over Darjeeling town.

Shubawana Regina Chettri, 21, has lost her life due to landslide at Singamari today. The wall of electricity board collapsed on top of her, while she was working beneath it.
