Darjeeling, May 25: GJMM has withdrawn its indefinite strike slated for Sunday onwards. Stating the reasons to withdraw the bandh, Roshan Giri said, ‘the tourist season is in pick, exams are going on, Madhyamic result is about to come, moreover, we would like to conduct the Tripartite Review meeting under peaceful environment’.  GJMM also demanded immediate release of Chandra Kumar Yonzon, GTA Sabhasad from Constituency 43 and its supporters arrested in Gorubathan on Friday. Police had arrested 21 GJMM supporters and GTA Sabhasad Chandra Kumar Yonzon against vandalism and violence in Gorubathan. In an incident GJMM supporters have vandalized the house of N K Subba, TMC leader and completely burnt down the house of N K Subba widow sister. CJM court has rejected the bail of Chandra Kumar Yonzon and 5 GJMM supporters who have held responsible for the incident, rest were freed on bond bail.

Darjeeling, May 22: The two display concrete boards at Clubside Darjeeling, below Keventers was inaugurated today by Mr. Amar Rai (Chairman, Darjeeling Municipality) and Mr. Kunal Aggarwal (IPS, SP Darjeeling) in the presence of Vice President of the Darjeeling NGO Network, Mr. Dinesh Pradhan, Child Welfare Committee members Ms. Anuja Ghaley and Ms, Manju Tamang, members from other NGOs, MARG volunteers, members from club side drivers association, local press and the public.

The first ever Mount Everest expedition of NCC cadets has successfully scaled the world's highest peak.

The first team led by Subedar Jagat Singh and comprising one NCO and five NCC Cadets scaled the peak at 0730 hrs (IST) on May 19 while the second team of two NCOs and three NCC Cadets reached the top at 06.35 (IST) today.

Darjeeling, May 20: A combined annual training camp (CATC-I) of NCC Group Headquarters, Darjeeling is being conducted at Jalapahar, Darjeeling from 16 May 2013.  Around 400 NCC cadets (both boys & girls) of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Malda and Cooch-behar districts in North Bengal from various schools and colleges are attending the camp. 5 Bengal Bn NCC, Darjeeling is conducting the camp.

Darjeeling: It is now question of great concern to the Darjeeling Municipality that drains and sewerages of Darjeeling town is reaching to unknown destination, admitting the fact Municipality Chairman, Amar Singh Rai said, Darjeeling town might explode anytime, if not taken seriously, particularly Chandbari is in vulnerable location. Therefore, Darjeeling Municipality has already reported in detail and submitted a proposal with the estimated cost of Rs. 40 crore to West Bengal government, said Rai.
