Mirik, April 28: Festival of Khambu Rai ‘Ubauli’ was observed at Mirik lake premises by large groups of Khambu Rai people from all over Darjeeling hills and Sikkim wearing their traditional attire. The festival ‘Ubauli’ and ‘Udhauli’ are the main festival of Khambu Rai, which is celebrated twice a year.

The JK Tyre Himalayan Drive 2013 TSD (Time-Speed-Distance) Rally covered Eastern regions of Sikkim, West Bengal, Darjeeling hills and the pristine Eastern Himalayas. The three-day event was flagged off on March 22, 2013 from Siliguri’s City Centre and concluded on March 24th, 2013.

Mukesh Sharma, Kalimpong, February 24: ‘Forever Urs’, a Nepali music album was released at the Town Hall. The album is prepared by Uday Tamang, Kalimpong Court Inspector and singer Lhamu Tshering. Thukchuk Lachungpa, former Minister under Government of Sikkim was the chief guest while, GTA Deputy Chairman, Lopsang Lama was the guest of honour. Both the singers of the album presented the songs from the newly released album. Veteran musician of Darjeeling, Karma Yonzon was also felicitated during the programme. Also all those who had helped in making of the album were felicitated. Office bearers of the Kalimpong Thana and musicians were present during the programme.

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 29 January 2013: The girl from Darjeeling, Sagarika Chhetri (23) with height: 5'6.8 was crowned Femina Miss India Kolkata 2013. She was also named the winner of three sub-contests, including Pond's Femina Miss Glowing Skin, PCJ Femina Miss Timeless Beauty and Max Femina Miss Fashion Icon.

Pond's Femina Miss India Kolkata 2013 wrapped up the pageant finale with Sagarika Chhetri as Pond's Femina Miss India Kolkata winner, Archita Sahu as Pond's Femina Miss India Kolkata 1st runner-up and Sukanya Bhattacharya as Pond's Femina Miss India Kolkata 2nd runner-up.

Pond's Femina Miss India Kolkata 2013 finale was held at Hotel Park Plaza Ballygunge Kolkata on January 28, 2013.
