4 Gorkhas representing India in Olympic 2012

KalimNews: In the Olympic 2012, four Gorkhas are representing India, they are:Tarundeep Rai in Archery - Men`s Individual event (1) and Men’s Recurve Team event (1), Basanta Bahadur Rana in Men`s 50 km race walk, Shiva Thapa in Men`s Bantamweight (56 Kg) Boxing and Bharat Chhetri (Captain) in Field Hockey.

Tarun deep Rai hails from Sikkim while Basanta bahadur Rana is a Nepalese from Kathmandu, Nepal but serving in Indian army and alloted Indian Passport. Shiv Thapa is from Assam and Bharat Chhetri is from Kalimpong. He is also a recipient of Kaleybung Ratna Puraskar awarded by Kalimpong Press Club in 2008.

2012 Summer Olympic Games officially the Games of the XXX Olympiad, also known informally as London 2012 are scheduled to take place in London, United Kingdom, from 27 July to 12 August 2012.

whether you got gold medals at london olympics 2012 or not you were already gold medalist for us and many thanks for making gorkhas proud. yours names will be written in golden words in the gorkhas history. once again i would like to congrajulate all of you. make gorkha proud at london olympics 2012.
