Darjeeling, May 23: Yet again Darjeeling witnessed a huge public rally today, young or old, almost every marcher traditionally equipped with Lepcha attire and determination. Lepchas of Darjeeling hills from different spheres of life gathered in Darjeeling town demanding to expedite the implementation of Lepcha Development Council which was agreed by the present West Bengal Govt. during the Kolkata Protest March held under the Banner of Indigenous Lepcha Tribal Association (ILTA).
The rally was started from Darjeeling Railway Station to Kutchery, submitted a memorandum to ADM (Additional District Magistrate), Darjeeling. Later, a huge rally convened into public meeting at Sumero Mancha. President of ILTA Ren. Lyangsong Tamsang addressed on the issue Lepcha and Lepcha Development Council, among other speakers were Ren. D.T.Lepcha, Ren Ongdup Lepcha, Ren Bhupen Lepcha, also addressed the gathering.
