MIRIK, 11 Mar 2014: The Khaprail unit of the 29th SSB Battalion today conducted a free health checkup camp at Taklung under Soureni constituency. The SSB provided free medical assistance to residents of the Indo-Nepal border and also aimed to strengthen relations between them. 29th Battalion deputy commandant Ashish Kumar and assistant commandant Abhijit Sarkar were present along with the assistant manager of Phuguri tea garden.
Dr. OP Pandey conducting checkups on the residents while Dr. JK Sharma checked up farm animals. They also distributed free medicines to the people.
The Brotherhood Orchestra band from Ranidanga performed songs during the programme. SSB officials appealed to the youths of the area to stay away from drugs. They also distributed free sporting items, solar lights and water filters during the programme.
