I am Natasha Giri from Darjeeling, on the 29th of Oct, my mom she suddenly got a heart attack so we tried to take her to hospital, but there was not even a single car who was willing to gom due to peak session… Somehow we managed to reach the hospital, and to our shock the doctor was not there… since my dad and half of the family members are from the medical field, so dad called up the doctor doc but the doctor said his duty starts only from 10:30.
As my mom was so serious, we requested him a lot and he arrived at 10:15… after checking her up, he told us to take my mom to Siliguri…
Again we booked an ambulance, and as we just reached near Bata, the driver said my Ambulance is not working well…
.
As my mom was very serious, there was nothing we could do to ease her pain… and though we belong from the medical field, we were helpless and hopeless.
At that point I realized, that in Darjeeling, there are no systematic way or process… our health care system is crumbling and ordinary people are suffering.
People shout, we want Gorkhaland, but before that shout for the system first…
If we were a bit late than than I would have lost my mom due to the carelessness of the people who form the healthcare system in our hills.
But not everyone was as lucky as me, many people have lost their loved ones due to this utter negligence and indifference on the part of health care authorities and officials.
I would request you all to kindly share this message to the people, so that it reaches those who administer GTA health system.
