The Trinmool Congress Chatra Parishad yesterday called a press conference to state that they are going to contest the up coming Kalimpong college elections on the platform of solving issues that are ailing the college.
Speaking to the Press, Mr. Nitesh Niroula convener of TMCP said, “we were only formed in September, and immediately after that we informed the Bengal PWD Minister Arup Biswas of the shortage of lecturers in our college… within two months that issue got resolved… if we are elected, we will make sure that all such issues get resolved at the earliest.”
He further said, “GJVM needs to present the audit of the funds that were allocated to them, and that they have used… if they don’t we will file and RTI to find out the same… we oppose them indulging students in politics and forcing them to sit on hunger strike, dharna, rallies… wasting the students time and hard earned money of their parents.”
Ms. Mingma Lhamu Bhutia Women’s convenor of TMCP added, “they should stop blaming TMC for the deployment of CRPF and IRB jawans on campus… once election is declared its the college authorities that decide on what kind of security is needed, not TMC… if the security personnel are not present, then it can cause law and order problem on campus… so we thank the college administration and Kalimpong police for deploying the forces.”
All together there are 22 seats for which elections will be held, while GJM and JAP are contesting on all 22, TMCP will contest on 17 and Gorkha Rastria Nirman Morcha students will contest on 7 seats.
